About this blog:

As a law enforcement trainer, I am often asked my opinion about the latest and greatest weapons, tactics, and gadgets available on the market. While I am by no means an "expert" in any one field, I am proficient in what I do.

My goal of this blog is to post reviews of weapons, equipment, and training.  The Zombie Apocalypse and other looming disasters may get mentioned as well.

Why the name CDI Tactical?

With some of the new weapons out on the market, I have people come up to me all the time and ask what the difference between weapon "A" and weapon "B" is. Often, I explain weapon "A" is a CDI or tactical weapon (for those not in the know, CDI stands for "Chicks Dig It"). This usually means that it is painted black, O.D. Green, or in some sort of digital camouflage. Oh! Don't forget the the fact that it looks cool and chicks dig it! Truth of the matter though, I just needed a cool sounding name for my blog!

Several years ago I was in the market for a 1911 pistol. I did not want to spend the money on some of the high-end 1911's that were out there. I don't know, something about dropping over $1,000 on a pistol that was going to be a range/ranch pistol didn't quite appeal to me! So, a budget 1911 it was! When Taurus first came out with their 1911, I thought, "Wow! A tricked out 1911 that will not break the bank! I've got to have one of those!" Well, that love affair lasted all of about a year! During a department combat pistol shoot, my Taurus literally broke! What was even worse was it broke when my wife was shooting it and all the guys I worked with were standing around laughing! Subaru Outback Off Road

I recently learned of some decent trails just minutes from my home. Looking for something to get my kids out of the house, I loaded them up and headed out to do some off-road adventuring! Primarily known as the Tahitian Village subdivision, this once-prominent development was a victim of the 2011 Bastrop forest fire. While there are many homes that survived and several other connected subdivisions, many people stopped building for fear that another fire could happen at any time. The Lost Pines area of Bastrop, TX offers scenic views  This left the western portion of the subdivision undeveloped, neglected, and left to Mother Nature's doing. Despite the lack of maintenance, the forest on this side was untouched by the fire, making it full of dense growth and wonderfully scenic place! The 2017 Outback: A Driver's Perspective The author's 2017 Outback exploring backroads By and large, when you search the internet for a 2017 Subaru Outback, you will get numerous results on how off-road capable the Subaru is or how it compares to other vehicles in its class. Scattered amongst the videos and photos of Outbacks scrambling up mountainsides, through mud, and plowing through snow, there is very little on articles or blogs about how the Subaru does as a daily driver. About the only exception to this rule is joining a Subaru Outback or related internet forum. It has been a little over one year and 22,000 miles since I drove my pre-owned 2017 Subaru Outback off the lot. A majority of those miles involved highway driving during my 60-mile round trip commute to downtown Austin and back.
